Small holes (nail/anchor)

  • Scrape loose material.
  • Apply lightweight spackle, let dry, sand smooth.
  • Spot prime and paint.

Medium holes (2–6 inches)

  • Cut a square opening around the damage.
  • Insert backing support (wood or repair clip).
  • Install a drywall patch, tape with mesh.
  • Apply 2–3 coats of compound, feathering wider each time.
  • Sand smooth, then prime and paint.

Large damage

Go stud-to-stud for strength:

  • Open the wall to center on studs.
  • Install a full replacement panel section.
  • Tape and float seams with paper or mesh.
  • Texture match to the surrounding finish.

Texture matching tips

Most Utah homes are orange peel or light knockdown. Practice on a scrap first, keep nozzle distance consistent, and prime before judging the match. Texture is where most DIY attempts fail.

When to call us

  • Water damage that may need mold remediation
  • Ceiling repairs over stairwells
  • Multiple cracks from structural movement
  • Blending heavy knockdown or skip-trowel finishes
If you see repeating cracks, mesh tape plus setting compound (hot mud) is your friend.
